BlaininC is Melbourne photographer Blain Crellin - thirty years shooting cities across Australia and China, now writing and singing his own songs. These are his photographs. This is his sound.
Architectural commissions across Australia, China and India, 1992 to 2022 - a decade of it in China, including an artist residency in Beijing.
The name is literal: Blain, in the musical scale of C. Classical pianoforte in the seventies, synthesisers in the eighties, bass through the nineties - then three decades composing with light instead of sound, for architects and cities across Austral-Asia.
Since 2022 the two practices have become one. BlaininC writes, sings and produces electronic soul and progressive music, co-composed with engineer Benjamin Hense at Beat Tank Studios, Melbourne - songs built the way photographs are made: patiently, and from observation.
